I got a chance to catch our wonderful Regional Health & Impact Manager, Malyse Uwase who is living and working in Rwanda. I’m thrilled to be sharing with you an insight into the lives of the women behind all the magic here at Kasha.
What time do you get up? I get up around 6:30 am
What time do you need to leave the house? I leave the house at 7:40am on fast days and on slow days more or less 8am. I am more of a morning person so it’s important for me to get to the office early in order to be the most productive during the day.
What’s your go-to breakfast meal? Muesli or granola cereals during weekdays and eggs during the weekend with some avocado.
#1 time saving tip for the morning: Have an idea of the clothes I am going to wear the next day and make sure they are prepared (e.g. ironed if need be).
Ideal lunch hour and biting: A salad! Ideally, it will have some cheese or chicken as well but not a must.
What does your evening routine look like: It depends on the evening, but all of these are routines for me: exercising, changing into relaxing clothes, watching a few interesting videos online or TV shows, dancing around the house alone (this is very powerful I highly recommend it). Additionally, I also like doing my hair (twists) or painting my nails. For some reason, I find these two activities relaxing for me even though it’s a lot of work at times. I love twisting my hair and most of my friends wonder why because they see it as a chore, but the habit is so ingrained in me and I find it soothing.
#1 tip for getting a good night’s sleep: Since an early age, it’s never been easy for me to fall asleep. At the moment, I try to listen to a podcast that is fun and interesting and put a timer on my phone to make sure it stops the podcast in an hour (time it usually takes me to fall asleep). In the past, I also read books a lot before nighttime and that also helped. I do think the key is finding a way to calm the mind and prepare it for sleep since we all live busy lives and it’s hard to shut down to recharge.
