Yasmin is a combined oral contraceptive (contains estrogen and progestogen). Tablets must be taken in the order directed on the package everyday at the same time. Tablets are taken for 21 consecutive days and each subsequent pack is started after a 7-day tablet -free interval (1 pill a day for 21 days followed by a 7 tablet-free day interval).
If a woman is not already using birth control, she should start taking these pills on the first day of her periods. If a woman is already using other birth control, it is necessary to first check-in with a healthcare provider to receive guidance on proper usage. Kasha works with a variety of health partners that can help provide the right guidance.
While birth control pills start being effective about 7-10 days after starting, it may take the body up to 3 months to get used to the pill in order for any side effects to subside.
Please note that birth control pills do not provide any protection against sexually transmitted infections and diseases, so you may still need to use a condom as well.
